A little bit about the founder of Cruise Nights International:

  • Who Is The Founder Of Cruise Nights International? My name is Nicolai Vondracek and I will be your host here at Cruise Nights International. I absolutely love cars, coming from a business focused background as opposed to engineering, my interest lies more in the aesthetics, sights, sounds and smells – How a fine automobile can be marketed and sold like an extension of yourself, like a fine suit rather than simply being a means of getting from A to B. Learning to drive in the same 1982, 200 Mercedes Benz that my parents drove from Germany to the UAE in the 80’s and spending almost every night on our main cruising strip in Dubai, with my 1991, 560 SEC Mercedes Benz, my Mom’s 1986 560 SEL or my Dad’s 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR fueled a love for cars and the passionate community around me! With 4 older Mercedes and 2 Japanese cars at home, I grew up with a broad automotive experience and strong memories of my cruises with friends and family over the years (along with the nights broken down at the side of the road) and how the right car can make you want to do it all over again without changing a thing! Okay maybe without the leaking fuel hoses and electrical glitches…
  • What Inspired You to Start the Website? After a number of different internships and 7 years being responsible for international sales for a Biotech Startup, I decided it was time to take the risk and start an idea that’s been in the back of my mind for years. Helping to maintain our mix of old and newer cars over the years showed the importance of finding the right shop for the task, be it electrical, mechanical, body work and more. Going through the trial and error of finding the right shops over the years implanted an idea in my mind that this process should be much easier and not rely solely on word of mouth or being a member of a car community! For example, you just move to a new country, buy a special car and are struggling to find the right shops for your maintenance and customization needs. Over time, I noticed that many of the best shops are found by referral, mostly stemming from quality work which meant less time to focus on marketing tasks, I hope to help these companies reach more enthusiasts and grow as a result! More personally, I recently purchased a well loved 2002 CL500 Mercedes Benz in the Netherlands and am now going through the same process of figuring out who the right shops are for my various needs as I have no clue! Among friends the running joke is “if only there was a website that could help me!”, I hope to step up to the challenge!
  • What Is Your Background In The Automotive Industry? Although I have no direct work experience in the automotive industry, I have definitely gotten my hands dirty with help from family, Google/YouTube and have been through the struggles of finding the right shops as well as the wrong ones! The goal is to combine my years of online sales and marketing experience with my automotive passion to help automotive service providers reach enthusiasts around the world!
  • What Future Plans Do You Have for the Website? I can’t say too much about that right now but after building a solid base, I hope to offer more sales and marketing assistance to the shops listed in the directory as well as more social possibilities for members. Stay tuned for more!
  • Why Is It Called Cruise Nights International? Back in 2015, I had just graduated and returned to Dubai to help out at my Dad’s IT Consulting company. Back then I had a slightly different idea that was more locally focused, inspired by all the social possibilities of a good night cruising in car crazy Dubai, I called it Dubai Cruise Nights. Many years later, that name still held a place in my heart and most of my friends knew it as a sort of nickname for me, I decided to adapt it a little for the new, bigger picture! And thus, Cruise Nights International or CNI was born!
